How Do You Go About Searching for a Good Website Designer?

by Website Designer on April 13, 2012

I need a website for my small business/ startup. Starting with maybe 4 pages, I need something simple and clean for my advising/ tutoring/ mentoring business. How do you choose which designers to browse? How do you begin to search for a style that meets your needs? Do they have to be located in your same city? I appreciate your input.

Some people offer free websites. You could venture out. Try designing it yourself. Have a play around get the feel of it.

If however you don’t want to get into that then it depends on how much you wanna pay.

Lots of people do these things. Google website designers and get the best quote.
Some people who offer free websites also have their own designers. You get the website free and you pay for the designer

You really need them to be local. You need to sit down with someone and discuss your needs with them. It is a two-way process. If someone just says ‘leave that with me I will design it’ then that’s no good. The site has to be well designed and well coded. It needs to be SEO’d. A good website will cost £1000+ and the SEO maybe £50-£200 a month.
If anyone says theye will do it a lot cheaper be suspicious.
Ask for examples of previous work and talk to the owners of their sites. For every one good web designer there are nine rubbish ones.

Hello Alan,

Reading through your message I can get a intro to what you are seeking. Here are some tips to choosing a website designer:

1. Portfolio – Can you view some of their work?
2.Skills- What skills does the website designer have? Can it accomidate what your are seeking?
3.Experience – How long have they been in the biz for?

These are a few questions to ponder before choosing. Hope this helps :)

PS: My organization provides website design and development. You can contact me anytime, my door is always open, so I can email you a portfolio for your viewing. In addition for you, I can provide a no-obligation assessment.

Genuinely,

Kevin M.
